Top marks for Intrepica

WHILE the Rudd Government talks up its $2.2 billion digital education revolution, it’s already happening right here on the Gold Coast.

Intrepica founder and CEO Shane Davis, believes he has tapped into a high growth industry given the online savvy of Generation Y.
“We’ve entered the digital era where children are exposed to technology at a very early age,” says Davis.

“We have recognised this and developed a program to suit the times, a program that will interest them, while encouraging ongoing learning and development.”

Developed in conjunction with Macquarie University’s Centre for Cognitive Science and educational professionals, Intrepica is designed to be interactive, entertaining and competitive, ensuring that children remain engaged, motivated and eager to learn.

“The feedback has been overwhelming. We’ve received strong support from parents, teachers and students, and interest in the program is growing every day,” says Davis.

The innovative program has been trialled by more than 4000 students from 130 schools across Australia. It includes the skills of pre-reading, phonics, spelling, vocabulary, reading fluency, grammar and comprehension, and aligns with Queensland and national literacy curriculum standards.

“We consulted with teachers, parents, researchers and industry experts throughout the development of Intrepica to ensure we created a program that delivered real learning results for students,” says Davis.

“In addition, its comprehensive diagnostic and reporting tools enable teachers and parents to accurately identify how their child learns and monitor their progress.”

The Gold Coast Innovation Centre (GCIC) co-developed the world-first online literacy program.

GCIC CEO Andrew Loch, says the centre supports the growth of knowledge-based businesses.

“Intrepica has taken an innovative approach to becoming a leader in online interactive education. It is a great environment for kids to want to spend time in, while being an informative and helpful resource for teachers and parents as well,” says Loch.

“We strongly believe that Intrepica can revolutionise English literacy education.”
